Assignment Description: The Portfolio of Quality Educational Web Resources assignment was intended to expand my horizons and at the same time allow me to spend time and effort to find quality educational Web resources.
Process/Categories:
My first step was to decide what my topic of interest would be. I wanted something that I could relate to as well as expand my knowledge. Next, I started brainstorming so that I could create a list of the characteristics that I thought would be appropriate for a successful leader. Once I completed my brainstorming process, I broke my topics into smaller subtopics which became my tags (categories). The subtopics would be the growing seeds for reaching the end result of becoming a successful leader.
Reflections:
I am very interested in leadership, and wanted the opportunity to learn more about how to become a good leader. My brainstorming process allowed me to do some creative thinking. During the process, I started questioning my own leadership abilities. Questions such as what do I want others to see in me and do I have the wherewithal to be a good leader?
Leadership was my theme, but the subtopics were my seeds. Everything grows from a seed, and I wanted information that would nourish the seeds and make them successful. I learned about many leaders and their characteristics, I learned about the various types of behaviors and how important it is that your behavior matches your character.
The challenging part of this research was that a lot of the information overlapped and I felt as if I was reading the same thing over and over again. I appreciated the opportunity to learn about other leaders and the sacrifices that they made to reach their potential. The project took time and energy, but I felt that it was worth every minute of it.
